Tata Steel UISL has been honored with the prestigious Bronze Award for its research paper, ‘Drones for Infrastructure and Town O&M,’ at the 66th National Convention and 8th International Conference. The two-day event, organised by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineers (IIIE), Jamshedpur Chapter, took place on September 27th and 28th, 2024, under the theme “Innovation & AI Enabled Sustainable Growth: Emerging Roles of Industrial Engineers.”
Sapna Jaiswal and Koustav Banerjee, the minds behind the award-winning paper, showcased how drone technology can revolutionize the operation and maintenance of urban infrastructure. Their pioneering work highlighted the potential of drones to monitor, maintain, and manage infrastructure efficiently, ensuring sustainable urban growth while minimizing environmental impact. In addition to the Bronze Award, several other innovative research presentations were featured by Tata Steel UISL at the conference, including: CityGIS - Transforming Urban Infrastructure Management with Data Visualization. This presentation focused on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and advanced data visualization techniques to optimize urban infrastructure management, providing city planners and engineers with actionable insights. Another was Sustainable Construction through Industrial By-products, This study emphasized the potential of repurposing industrial by-products in construction, offering sustainable building practices and contributing to reduced environmental footprints.
