Tata Steel UISL launches community engagement drive on World Dengue Day

Sunday, 16 June 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

On the occasion of World Dengue Day, Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (Tata Steel UISL) has announced the launch of a comprehensive Community Engagement Drive aimed at combating the menace of dengue. Despite the department's rigorous scientific control activities, including anti-larval treatment, fogging, and widespread awareness campaigns, controlling dengue is not possible without the active involvement of citizens.

To raise awareness, promote prevention, and effectively combat dengue, Tata Steel UISL is organizing a special awareness session and launching their community awareness drive with the slogan "Abki Bar, Palti Maar." This initiative encourages citizens to search for and eliminate mosquito breeding sources in and around their homes.

Present on the occasion were Dr. Jujhar Majhi, Civil Surgeon cum CMO, East Singhbhum; R. K. Singh, General Manager, Town O&M; and Dr. Vijaya Jha, Senior Registrar at Tata Main Hospital, alongside other government health officers and various school principals, vice principals, and authorities.

To ensure widespread participation and effectiveness, Tata Steel UISL has invited principals of all schools, NGOs, and community leaders to attend the launch. These key figures will help disseminate the message throughout the community, ensuring that every citizen is informed and engaged.

Weekly "Abki Bar, Palti Maar" Inspections: Each resident is encouraged to perform the "Palti Maar" activity in their homes and surrounding areas every week.

Upload Images: Participants can protect themselves and their families as responsible citizens by uploading pictures of their inspections through the QR code provided by the campaign, with a chance to win a gift from Tata Steel UISL. More information is available at [Tata Steel UISL Dengue Awareness](https://services.juscoltd.com/DengueAwareness).

Moreover, over 300 banners will be placed across the city to raise awareness about the importance of preventing mosquito breeding. Live samples of mosquito larvae and pupae at various stages will be displayed to help participants understand the mosquito life cycle and the critical points for intervention.

Community participation is paramount in the fight against dengue. While the Public Health and Sanitation (PHS) department will continue its scientific control measures, the combined efforts of the community can significantly enhance the effectiveness of these measures. Each resident taking responsibility to remove sources of container breeding weekly will drastically reduce the mosquito population, thereby reducing the incidence of dengue.

A highlight of the event was the announcement of ten lucky winners of the dengue quiz floated online on June 7, 2024. The winners are Rishabh Chaudhary, Rajiv Sharma, Sourimya Pratihar, Vikash Kumar, Usha Devi, Sahil Kumar, Suraj Kumar, Khalid Anjum, Soma Shaw, and Suman Kumar Mitra.

Tata Steel UISL has urged all citizens of Jamshedpur to join them in this vital campaign. By working together, they can protect the community from the dangers of dengue and create a healthier environment for everyone.
