Strict action will be taken against negligence in election work: CEO

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar today took stock of the preparations for the elections by inspecting the polling stations which had low voting percentage in the previous elections of 7-Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency. Voting in Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency is to be held on 25 May 2024. Extensive preparations are being made for this. Minimum facilities are being restored at polling stations, so that voters can vote easily.

The CEO said that any kind of negligence in election related work will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against officers and personnel who are lax in election work. He directed the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad to take strict action against the officials who deliberately showed laxity in the election work.

He directed to prepare separate lists of voters having Voter ID card with black and white photo and voters who have not received Voter ID card with photo despite their name in the voter list, updating of ASD list, timely distribution of Voter Information Slip. He also directed to train the volunteers and members of the polling station awareness group and update the list related to it. He directed to speed up all election related works. He warned the officers and employees that they should make preparations in such a way that the voters do not face any kind of problem on the day of voting. The Chief Electoral Officer inspected the polling centers located at DAV Public School and Diamond Crossing Primary School in Dhanbad.

During the inspection of the Chief Electoral Officer, General Observer of Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency K. Thavaseelan, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Madhavi Mishra, Municipal Commissioner Raviraj Sharma, Nodal Officer of Media Cell-cum-District Public Relations Officer Sunil Kumar Singh etc. were present.

The CEO also reached Bokaro today to take stock of the preparations for Lok Sabha elections. He inspected various polling stations in Bokaro district with low voting percentage and became aware of the situation there and appealed to all the voters to vote. He directed the BLO and BLO supervisor of polling station number 294 located at Bokaro Public School to hold a show-cause against laxity in the polling work.

During the inspection of various polling stations, he directed for speedy distribution of Voter Information Slip, along with updating of ASD list, in case any voter does not have Voter ID card after his name is in the voter list for voting, then other Instructed to make voters aware regarding voting by showing 12 types of documents. He directed to complete the distribution of Voter Information Slip immediately and correct the Absent, Shifted and Death (ASD) list. He directed to engage the services of volunteers and train them for their work responsibilities. He directed to pay special attention to queue management and time management.

He said that voters should not face any problem in exercising their franchise. He directed to make the voting process smooth and organized and to make the polling stations attractive by decorating them. He assessed the activities of the voting day and directed to complete the preparations. Giving instructions to keep the voting process fast on the polling day, he said that voters should not have to stand in queues unnecessarily due to unnecessary slowness in the voting process.

He said that so that the voting process can run smoothly and voters do not have to wait too long to vote, there is a provision to deploy polling personnel kept in reserve at polling stations with more than 1200 voters. These additional polling personnel will assist other election personnel, which will speed up the pace of voting.

The Chief Electoral Officer inspected various polling stations of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro Public School, Bokaro Ispat Senior Secondary School in Bokaro district. During the inspection, General Observer Arun Mahesh Babu, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, Deputy Development Commissioner Sandeep Yadav, Deputy Election Officer Pratibha Kujur, Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Sub-Divisional Officer Om Prakash Gupta etc. were present.
