Another heart wrenching incident of street dogs attacking children was reported in the state capital, street dogs damaged the jaw of a 6-year-old child in Ganga Nagar.

The child identified as Humer has been admitted to Kamla Nehru Hospital. The child had 20 stitches on his jaw. The doctor has removed three teeth of the child. Due to being badly injured, the child could not eat anything for two days.

The incident happened on Tuesday night. This came to light on Wednesday night when the family members came to the Municipal Corporation to seek help from Leader of Opposition and Councilor Shabista Zaki.

The family lives in Ganga Nagar father of the child Imran Khan  works as a labourer. Son Humer was playing outside the house at night when a stray dog attacked the child. Hearing the screams of the child, people who came running somehow chased away the dog and saved the child. The injured child was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Father Imran told that he was asked to bring medicines from outside to Kamla Nehru Hospital but he didn't have money.

Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation Zaki said that the victim child lives in Banganga area near the Science Center located in Ward No. 24. His father works as a labourer. The dog attack left deep wounds on the child's mouth and body. Zaki has demanded compensation for the victim's family.

He told that at the same place where Hummer was attacked by dogs, three more people were bitten on Wednesday night. The mayor and other responsible people have been asked to catch stray dogs. Imran told, there is a pack of dogs in the locality. Complained to the corporation, but no one came to catch the dogs.

Dr. Dhirendra Srivastava, Associate Professor of Hamidia Hospital, says that the risk is high in this case. The child has been bitten by an unvaccinated dog. There is a bite and dental injury on the face. Surgery cannot be done right now. We have done tooth extension and anti rabies vaccination. The child seems stable. Further treatment will be done only after the vaccination status is known. Feeding is also being given through drip.

Mother Samreen told me that he was cooking food at home. Humer went out to play when he was bitten by a dog. We brought him to the doctor. He is not well right now. Unable to talk. There have been a lot of dogs in our area in the last one and a half months. Have also complained about this. The dog catchers did not come here. After biting the child, the dog catchers came.
