The Supreme Court will hold a special Lok Adalat from July 29 to August 3, 2024, to resolve the pending cases. Sharing information in this regard, Rewari Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and District Legal Services Authority’s secretary Amit Verma on Sunday said that parties involved in long-pending cases in the Supreme Court can contact their local District Legal Services Authority office before July 28 if they wish to present their cases before the special Lok Adalat.
As part of this initiative, pre-conciliation meetings will be held at the local District Legal Services Authority offices through online or hybrid modes. These meetings will assess the potential for reconciliation between the parties, leading to further action on such cases. Cases involving the government as a party are likely to be resolved in the special Lok Adalat.
Verma said that the special Lok Adalat will include labour cases, cheque bounce cases (Section 138 of the NI Act), accident claim cases (motor accident claims), consumer protection cases, transfer petitions (civil and criminal), money recovery cases, criminal compoundable cases, other compensation-related cases, family law matters, service-related issues, rental disputes, educational matters, maintenance issues, mortgage cases, land disputes, and other civil cases.
