Friday, 07 June 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said that the State Government has decided to run a special campaign in the State for repair of roads of the Public Works Department and Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB).  After presiding over a meeting with the officers concerned, Saini said that an amount of Rs 1636 crore was also approved for this purpose.

It was highlighted during the meeting that the repair of state highways and major district roads will be prioritized, with an aim to complete approximately 1500 works by September. Notably, the tender process for some of these roads has already been completed. The HSAMB has identified 384 roads across 17 districts, covering a total length of about 1100 kilometers.

Furthermore, it was disclosed in the meeting that out of the 439 roads, spanning 5200 km, earmarked for transfer by HSAMB, roads having length of 3000 km were successfully transferred last year. The Board will now concentrate on repairing these roads before transferring them to the Public Works Department.

The Board has decided that future road transfers to the Public Works Department will only proceed after a thorough demarcation. The Public Works Department will undertake patchwork repairs on 3500 km of roads before the onset of the monsoon season.

It was also decided in the meeting that the commencement of soil filling and the construction of kutcha roads will begin immediately on roads and bypasses where 80 to 85 percent of the land has been available. Apart from this, the construction work on the Kosli bypass will commence shortly.
