A Samajwadi Party Ayodhya city president was accused of gangraping a minor girl and recording the crime. Following the revelation, Ayodhya police arrested SP’s Bhadarsa Nagar president Moid Khan, and an employee from his bakery on Thursday. They were charged with the gangrape of a 12-year-old girl.

An official spokesman of the government claimed that the crime came to light when the victim’s family discovered that she was pregnant.

Subsequently, the family filed a report, prompting immediate action from the police due to the gravity of the incident. Notably, the Ayodhya MP claimed ignorance of the incident and avoided media inquiries on the matter.

SSP Rajkaran Nair stated that SP leader Moid Khan initially raped the girl and recorded the assault. Over the next two-and-a-half months, Khan continued to sexually abuse her, using the video to intimidate and threaten her. “Khan committed these acts with the assistance of Raju Khan, an employee at his bakery. The incident came to light after two months when the minor became pregnant,” the SSP said.

He further said that the incident, which occurred in Bhadarsa town within the jurisdiction of the Purakalandar police station, was uncovered when the girl’s family sought medical help due to her abdominal pain, leading to the confirmation of her pregnancy. Following the family’s complaint, the police have filed a report against the accused under the POCSO Act. Both Moid Khan and Raju Khan have been arrested and are currently in jail.

SSP Rajkaran Nair reported that the victim’s father passed away two years ago, leaving her family to be supported solely by the earnings of her mother and sisters through labour. As per the allegations, about two-and-a-half months ago, after the victim had finished her work, Raju told her that Moid wanted to see her. When the victim arrived, Moid Khan assaulted her.

It is alleged that Moid Khan raped her while Raju recorded the incident on his mobile phone. Following this, Raju also engaged in sexual activity with her. This pattern of abuse continued, with both men repeatedly assaulting the teenage victim.

A video of Moid Khan’s assault is now circulating on social media. In response to the situation, Ayodhya MP Awadhesh Prasad stated that he is unaware of the details.
