Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said that he doesn’t feel obligated to respond to questions or allegations put forward by the BJP and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), as he believes many of their claims are baseless. Speaking to the media during a press conference at his residence, Soren remarked that various allegations and accusations are being circulated by the opposition, yet he does not see it as his duty to address every single one.
During his address, Soren commented on recent Income Tax raids that targeted individuals in his close circle. "It has come to my attention that IT raids have been conducted on people around me," he said, suggesting that such incidents rarely occurred in the middle of elections before 2014. He continued, “Income Tax raids targeted locations associated with some of my colleagues. I have spoken previously on the current state of constitutional agencies. People across the nation are witnessing who these agencies choose to target and the grounds upon which they operate. Can you recall actions like this in the midst of elections? Before 2014, such measures were seldom seen in our country.”
The Income Tax Department today raided multiple properties connected to Sunil Srivastava and his wife, conducting searches at about nine locations across Ranchi and Jamshedpur.
When questioned about issues such as Bangladeshi infiltrators, Soren reaffirmed his position, saying, “I do not find it necessary to respond to every question posed by them. I haven't taken it upon myself to address all their concerns.”
He also took a swipe at the BJP, remarking that while they may consider themselves intellectually superior, his focus remains on addressing issues faced by the poor. “For me, it is more important to work on resolving the challenges faced by impoverished communities,” he added.
Addressing questions about his potential to win the elections and form a government again, Soren avoided predictions. “I do not make forecasts—you might have better insight into that,” he said, emphasizing his preference to stay focused on governance rather than speculative statements.
When asked about a divisive narrative suggested by BJP’s slogan, “If they are divided, they will be cut,” Soren responded confidently, “They will neither be divided nor cut; instead, they will face a political defeat.”
Soren also addressed the issue of employment in Jharkhand, promising to take personal responsibility for ensuring that pending government jobs in the state are filled. He assured that no conspiracy would prevent him from following through on his commitment to job creation and employment for the people of Jharkhand.
