On World No Tobacco Day, a seminar was held at Sadar Hospital Garhwa on Friday. Chief guest Civil Surgeon inaugurated the seminar by lighting the lamp. A signature campaign was launched on the occasion.
On the occasion, the Civil Surgeon said that many diseases including cancer are taking people's lives due to consumption of tobacco and its products. There is a need to make people aware of the harm caused by tobacco products.
He said that the sale of tobacco products is banned near educational institutions. Celebrating World No Tobacco Day is meaningful only when the COTPA law is implemented and people are made aware.
In the seminar, PLV Murali Shyam Tiwari said that the District Legal Services Authority is running an awareness program on all intoxicants including tobacco. In this, people are constantly being alerted about the use of intoxicants and involvement in the sale of drugs by children below 18 years of age. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Harenchandra Mahato also expressed his views in the seminar.
District BHBD Consultant Arvind Kumar Dwivedi, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Physio Abhishek Kumar Singh, PLVV Umashankar Dwivedi, Sangeeta Sinha and many others were present on the occasion.
Before this on the occasion hospital staffs took out an awareness rally . It started from the Civil Surgeon's office located in the Sadar Hospital premises. On the occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ashok Kumar flagged off the awareness rally.
Trainee ANMs and GNMs participated in the rally.
The rally started from Sadar Hospital and went to Ranka Mor via Chiniya Mor of the town. The trainee ANMs and GNMs involved in it were walking while raising slogans to make people aware about tobacco and its products. The people involved in the rally from Ranka Mor of the town reached the Sadar Hospital premises again via the main road and the rally concluded. On the occasion, many health workers including physio Abhishek Singh of Sadar Hospital, assistant Vimlesh Kumar, Rajendra Ram, Rajkumar Verma were present.
