Farmers of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan's home district Sehore and his home area Budhni are worried. The work of purchasing moong from farmers has not started yet. Due to this, the concern of the farmers has started increasing.
The government's moong-urad purchase policy has also increased the concern of the farmers. Actually, in the recently released moong-urad purchase policy, 8 quintals of moong per hectare has been fixed to be purchased from the farmers. That is, about 3 quintals of moong will be purchased per acre. A farmer will be able to sell 100 quintals of moong at the maximum support price. The state government will buy moong at the support price of Rs 8558 per quintal. The work of moong purchase will start from June 24 and will continue till July 31.
However, the work of purchase has not been started yet. Due to this, lines of worry have started appearing on the foreheads of the farmers, because the farmers are waiting to sell moong, but till now the centers for purchase have not been decided. Rehti, Bhaironda and Budhni tehsils of Sehore district have a large area under moong cultivation. Here farmers grow moong in a large area.
This year the production of moong has also been better than every year. The average moong yield of farmers has been 7 to 8 quintals per acre. Most of the farmers have kept moong to sell at the support price, but till now the centers for the purchase of moong have not been decided. Warehouse operators have also expressed their inability to provide centers. Warehouse operators of Bhaironda tehsil have already submitted a memorandum to the SDM that they will not give their warehouses for moong purchase this time.
They have not been paid the rent for storing moong for two years. They have also not been paid the rent for other crops for more than 10 months. Now the warehouse operators of Rehti tehsil are also preparing to submit a memorandum. In such a situation, it is natural for the farmers' concern to increase.
A maximum of 100 quintals of moong will be taken from a farmer-It has been decided in the moong procurement policy that a farmer can sell only 8 quintals and a maximum of 100 quintals of moong per hectare. In such a situation, big farmers who have more than 100 quintals of moong will also have to face difficulties in selling moong.
Last year, moong was purchased at the rate of 15 quintals per hectare on the support price, but this time it has been halved.
Rehti Tehsil President of Association of Warehouse Owner Madhya Pradesh, Chetan Patel says that the warehouse operators have not been paid the rent for two years of moong storage. The rent of other crops has also not been received for more than 10 months.
In such a situation, this time a center will not be given for moong procurement. Association of Ware Housing Owner Madhya Pradesh's Bhairuunda Tehsil President Pankaj Panwar says that the tehsil's warehouse operators have not been paid the rent of moong for two years. We have demanded this many times but the rent has not been paid till now. In this regard, we have submitted a memorandum to the SDM and expressed our inability to provide a centre for purchasing moong.
