Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar today said that the second phase of the election campaign will end on Monday evening, 18 November. Voting will be held on 20 November at 14,218 booths in 38 assembly constituencies. Out of these, voting will be held only from 7 am to 4 pm at 31 booths. He said that as soon as the silence period starts, those who have gone to the polling area for election campaigning etc will have to leave from there immediately. If this is not done, action will be taken as per the rules.
Kumar said that polling parties will go to their respective polling stations on 19 November to conduct voting on 20 November. In this phase of elections, polling personnel will not be sent to any booth by helidropping. He was addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Sunday.
He said that action will be taken against those found carrying any kind of board, banner etc. on private vehicles. For this, the Transport Department has been directed to do checking and ensure appropriate action under Motor Vehicle Rules if any board, banner etc. is found on any vehicle. He informed that out of 14,218 booths in the second phase, 48 booths have been developed as unique booths. The number of polling stations operated by women is 239. 22 polling stations will be operated by Divyaangjans, whereas, 26 polling stations will be managed by the youth.
He informed that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal material and cash worth more than Rs. 196 crore has been seized. So far, FIRs have been registered against 85 people for violating the Model Code of Conduct.
