In a move that brings relief to students, the district administration on Wednesday told school principals to ensure that their institutions do not open before 9 AM.
The orders come amidst an intensifying cold wave that left young scholars shivering as they queued up at their bus stops in the morning.Making it mandatory for all schools in the district, the orders stated that “all government, private, CBSE, and other board-affiliated schools” must comply.
The orders, however, made an exemption for examinations, which will be held in accordance with pre-decided schedules. While most parents welcomed the move, some others said that the shift in school timings will disrupt schedules and force them to seek alternative transport arrangements for their wards.
Speaking to The Pioneer, District Education Officer (DEO) Narendra Kumar Ahirwar said that refusal to abide by the new schedule will result in action against the schools."As the orders come into force tomorrow (Thursday) morning, we will monitor the situation and forward reports of non-compliance to the District Collector for further action."After days of slightly warmer conditions caused by cyclone Fengal, the state capital has witnessed a considerable drop in the mercury this week.
