In a shocking incident, Rohit Kumar Singh, commonly known as Chhotu Singh, was found dead in his courtyard early Monday morning. The 25-year-old school van driver was discovered bleeding and unresponsive, leading to immediate concern among family members and neighbors.
According to sources, Chhotu Singh had chosen to sleep outside in the courtyard of his home in Baghbera village the night before. His grandfather, Alak Singh, was the first to discover him lying on the ground when he woke up. Alarmingly, the door of the house was found ajar from the outside, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding Chhotu’s death.
“He was sleeping peacefully when I last saw him,” Alak Singh recounted. “When I checked on him in the morning, I found him in a terrible state—bleeding and unconscious. I immediately called for help.”
Despite the urgency, by the time he was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) at approximately 6 AM, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. No one in the vicinity reported hearing gunshots during the night, adding to the mystery of the incident.
Reports suggest that Chhotu had been involved in a physical altercation with a group of boys just days prior to his death. This confrontation has led to speculation that his murder was a direct consequence of that dispute. Witnesses claim that tensions had been brewing in the area, and the nature of the conflict points toward a potential motive.
Chhotu’s father has expressed grave concerns to the police, particularly pointing to a previous dispute between Chhotu and a local resident, Sanjay Sharma. According to the elder Singh, during a heated exchange over the earlier conflict with another local, Kailash Choubey, Sharma allegedly threatened Chhotu, saying, “I will shoot you.”
The father’s assertion has led investigators to focus on Sanjay Sharma as a person of interest in the case. However, as of now, police officials have refrained from issuing a definitive statement regarding the ongoing investigation.
Jamshedpur police have initiated a thorough investigation, exploring every angle of the case. In a preliminary search of the house, authorities discovered liquor, which has been taken into evidence as part of the investigation. The police are currently examining Chhotu’s background and the relationships he had with the individuals involved in the reported disputes.
“We are looking into all aspects surrounding this tragic incident,” stated a police official. “We are gathering evidence and statements from family members and neighbors to establish a clearer picture of what transpired. While there are suspicions regarding the motives, we will ensure a comprehensive investigation is conducted.”
The body of Rohit Kumar Singh has been sent for post-mortem examination, which will help ascertain the exact cause of death and provide further evidence for the ongoing investigation.
