Shahjahanabad police have arrested a school van driver for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor girl student after kidnapping. Police have rescued the student 49 days after she was kidnapped.
According to the information received from the police, the student was kidnapped from Shahjahanabad police station area on 26 February 26. The class 10 student had gone for the last paper of the final board exams. The crime was committed by the driver of the victim's school van. The girl was kept hostage for 49 days in Ahirpura of Jahangirabad police station area.
During this period the victim was raped several times. On the information of the informer, the police rescued the girl on Tuesday night. Accused has been arrested.
SI Pawan Sen said that the 16 year old girl is a resident of Idgah Hills. She studies in class 10th in a government school in Shahjahanabad area.
Accused Abhishek Sarathe (34) is the driver of the school van. The girl used to go to school in his van.
The girl had come to Center Cambridge School, Idgah Hills, because of her board exams. The girl did not return home on 26 February after giving her last examination. Till late evening the family members searched the houses of all her relatives and acquaintances as well as her friends. When no information was found, the family lodged a complaint at the police station.
SI said that the girl's family had expressed suspicion of kidnapping by the van driver. On checking his house he was not found. His mobile number was also continuously switching off. Therefore the police activated the informers. Based on the information of the informer, late on Tuesday night the police freed the girl from a room in Ahirpura.
The victim in her statement stated that the van driver had kidnapped her. In the initial days, he kept roaming outside the city, 40 days ago the accused took a house on rent in Jahangirabad. Here he kept the victim with him. He committed atrocities many times on the pretext of getting married when he attained adulthood. After freeing the girl, the police conducted her medical examination, in which after rape was confirmed, sections of POCSO and rape were added.
