Bokaro Steel Plant inaugurated the "SAIL Cricket Championship 2024-25," aligning with SAIL's commitment to promoting sports across its units. The tournament, running from November 26 to 30, 2024, is being held at Sector 4 Cricket Stadium and Trainees’ Hostel Ground No. 1, with eight teams from various SAIL units competing.
The championship was inaugurated by new Executive Director (HR), Rajashree Banerjee, in the presence of dignitaries, including Chief General Manager (Town Administration) Kundan Kumar, General Manager (Public Health) A.K. Avinash, General Manager (Liaison & Administration) C.R.K. Sudhanshu, and Assistant General Manager (S&CA) Subhash Rajak. Representing SAIL Corporate Office, DGM (Sports) Saurabh Shukla served as the event observer.
The league matches on the opening day brought excitement to the championship. Rourkela Steel Plant secured an impressive 70-run victory against VISL Bhadravati, while ISP Burnpur triumphed over Durgapur Steel Plant with a 5-wicket win.
The tournament's final match is scheduled for November 30, 2024. The championship aims to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaboration among SAIL employees. With players and spectators alike showing great enthusiasm, the event promises thrilling matches in the coming days.
