SAD’s ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ to start from Attari on Feb 1

Shiromani Akali Dal’s ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ will start from the Indo-Pak border in Attari on February 1 and cover 43 constituencies in a month.

Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal will lead the Yatra along with senior party leaders after paying obeisance at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar. “The Yatra would expose both the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as well as showcase the contribution of successive SAD governments in the development of the State,” said senior leader Daljit Singh Cheema while sharing details about the yatra.

Cheema said that the SAD president would meet and interact with the people at designated spots in each constituency besides addressing them. “As per the feedback received by the party, every section of society is aggrieved. Farmers have not received compensation for repeated crop failures. Social welfare benefits of the weaker sections have been curtailed. Youth from the State have been bypassed in favour of outsiders in government recruitment,” he said.

Cheema said that other issues, including political vendetta besides corruption and complete surrender on the core issues of Punjab including its river waters and the State capital by the AAP government, would also be taken up during the Yatra, which is scheduled to culminate on February 28 at Sardulgarh and Talwandi Sabo.
