Thursday, 30 May 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In a heart-wrenching incident, Pinky Kumari, a clerk at MGM Medical College and Hospital, succumbed to her injuries at Tata Main Hospital on Wednesday morning around 5 am. The accident, which occurred on Sunday evening, has left the community in shock and her family in deep mourning.

Pinky Kumari's elder sister and brother-in-law, who live in Bengaluru, rushed to Tata Main Hospital upon receiving the devastating news. They recounted the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. On Saturday, Pinky was engaged in election duties assigned by the state government. Sunday was her weekly holiday. That evening, around 7:15 pm, Pinky and her fiancé were traveling from Samta Nagar in Mango to Dimna Chowk on a scooty.

Near the Mahindra showroom on NH-33, a group of three auto drivers were reportedly racing when one of the autos collided with Pinky's scooty. Pinky's fiancé was driving, and she was seated behind him. The impact of the collision caused Pinky to fall onto the middle of the road, resulting in severe injuries. Her fiancé immediately rushed her to Tata Main Hospital, where doctors described her condition as critical.

For three agonizing days, Pinky fought for her life. Her father, whose mental condition is fragile, was informed about the accident. Meanwhile, Pinky's elder sister and brother-in-law made their way to Jamshedpur, hoping for a miracle. Tragically, despite the medical team's best efforts, Pinky Kumari passed away early on Wednesday.

The family now faces an additional burden as Tata Main Hospital is demanding payment of outstanding medical bills amounting to approximately one lakh rupees. Upon learning about the incident, BJP leader Vikas Singh visited Tata Main Hospital and met with Pinky's grieving family. He expressed his condolences and support during this difficult time.

Vikas Singh highlighted Pinky's service at MGM Hospital and called on the Deputy Commissioner and MGM Hospital management to intervene. He urged them to waive the medical expenses incurred at Tata Main Hospital and to ensure that the responsible auto driver faces legal consequences. Singh emphasized the need for the police to leverage CCTV footage to take swift action against the auto driver involved in the accident.

The accident has sparked outrage in the community, with many demanding stricter enforcement of traffic laws and accountability for reckless driving. Pinky Kumari's untimely death serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by negligent driving and the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
