Rajnath, other leaders cast their votes

Defence Minister and Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Rajnath Singh, cast his vote at Scholar Home School polling station in Vipul Khand of Gomti Nagar at 10:15 am along with his wife Savitri Singh, son Neeraj Singh and daughter-in-law Neelam Singh.

After casting his vote, Rajnath Singh appealed “to all the voters of the country, including Lucknow, to definitely vote along with their family members.

When asked how many seats the National Democratic Alliance would win, he said the decision was in the hands of the public but the resolution of NDA was 400 plus seats and at this time he would not like to make any prediction.

Addressing the media after casting his vote, senior BJP leader Neeraj Singh said that people were excited and were queuing up in large numbers at every polling booth to vote.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak cast his vote along with his wife Namrata Pathak and daughter at Montessori School in Mall Avenue.

After casting his vote, Pathak said the opposition was completely confused as the public had completely rejected them. He said the NDA would win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP, including Rae Bareli and Amethi.

Rajya Sabha MP and Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that all citizens must exercise their right to vote as voting was their right as well as their duty.

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati cast her vote at Mall Avenue while BSP candidate Sarwar Mallik cast his vote at the Shia PG College.

He said: “I participated in this great festival of democracy with my entire family. I voted at Shia PG College, Sitapur Road polling booth. Yes, casting the vote is our right as well as duty because if we don’t vote then how can we complain to the elected government.”

Samajwadi Party candidate Ravidas Mehrotra cast his vote at the Rani Laxmi Bai ward polling centre in Lucknow Central assembly segment.

Rashtriya Lok Dal national spokesperson Anil Dubey and his family members cast their votes in the Bhola Kheda booth at Basic Primary School in Kanausi.

“Voting is your Brahmastra (never failing weapon) in the great festival of democracy. Your one vote will decide the happiness, peace, prosperity and development of your area. The wave of revolution and change is going on in the entire country. For the third time, the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government is going to be formed in the country,” he said.

RLD national secretary Anupam Mishra along with his family exercised his franchise in Aliganj. He said his vote was dedicated to building a strong nation.

State president of RLD (Business cell) Rohit Agarwal said, “Today, by exercising my right to vote, I got the opportunity to empower the successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the successful Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

By voting in the Lucknow East assembly by-election, I got a chance to give power to the double-engine government,” he said
