After a break of about a week, the rainy season has started again in Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rains occurred in 14 districts including Bhopal and Indore. Water entered low-lying areas and houses in Chhindwara and Guna, 5 sluice gates of Tawa Dam were opened in Narmadapuram. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in 11 districts.
Sagar recorded the highest rainfall of 2.25 inches on Tuesday in the state. Indore received one and a half inches of rain. One and a quarter inches of rain was recorded in Pachmarhi and four and a half inches of rain was recorded in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Ujjain.
Rainfall was witnessed in Betul, Dhar, Guna, Chhindwara, Mandla, Narmadapuram and Malajkhand of Balaghat district. Heavy rains also occurred in Agar district.
So far, 28.7 inches of rainfall has been recorded in the state. This is 76 percent of the season. Sheopur has received twice the normal rainfall. Mandla-Seoni are such districts where the rainfall figure has crossed 41 inches.
Senior meteorologist said, 'The low pressure area is still active. This system will move forward in the next 2 to 3 days. This will cause rain in many districts of the state. Activity of monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation will also continue. A strong system will be formed from Wednesday.'
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains to continue in Shahdol, Amarkantak of Anuppur, Bhind, Morena, Agar-Malwa, Guna, Mandsaur, Betul, Rajgarh, Ujjain and Shivpuri. Also, there is a possibility of lightning with moderate thunder in Udaygiri of Vidisha, Sanchi of Raisen, Gwalior.
Heavy rain started in almost the entire city of Indore from around 4 pm on Tuesday evening. About two and a quarter inches of rain fall was recorded here. Due to rain, waterlogging and traffic jams occurred at many major intersections. Apart from this, heavy waterlogging also occurred in many low-lying areas of the city and BRTS. Many areas including Palasia, Guitar Tiraha, Scheme 140, Khajrana, Robot Chauraha were flooded up to knee level.
Heavy rains occurred in some areas of Guna district on Tuesday. Heavy rains continued since morning. The drain in Ukawad village overflowed. Due to this, the entire village was flooded. Water filled up to two to three feet.
Due to heavy rains in Parasia of Chhindwara district, low-lying areas were flooded. Due to rain, there was a jam in the under bridge of Parasia Pipariya Road. Here, the goods kept in front of the nearby shops were washed away due to the strong flow of water. Goods were also damaged due to water entering the houses.
