Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday took a nostalgic leap back to his college days as he captivated the audience with a powerful rendition of Sant Ram Udaasi’s revolutionary poem “Maghda Rahin Ve Surja Kammian De Vehre” during the Youth Festival at DAV College, Hoshiarpur. The crowd, a mix of students, teachers, and art enthusiasts, was entranced as Mann, known for his earlier life as a stage performer, brought the poem’s spirit to life with passion and precision, evoking memories of his own youth.

“This poem holds a special place in my heart,” Mann remarked with warmth. “We used to recite it in competitions back in college, and performing it here today feels like revisiting those cherished days.” Joining him on stage was his long-time friend and artist Karamjit Singh Anmol, adding to the event’s emotional resonance.

Mann’s performance commanded a pin-drop silence as his words reverberated through the hall. For a full two minutes, the audience sat spellbound, only to erupt in applause as he finished. Reflecting on the significance of the event, Mann noted, “These youth festivals play a vital role in shaping young minds and personalities. They offer a platform for self-expression, much like they did for me, fueling my growth from an artist to a public servant.”

As he addressed the students, Mann encouraged them to harness such platforms to develop their skills and discover their passions. “Youth festivals are more than just competitions; they are stepping stones to success. Winning was my sole focus then, and that spirit propelled me forward,” he shared, urging the young crowd to embrace hard work, humility, and determination.

He further highlighted his government’s commitment to Punjab’s youth, emphasizing ongoing efforts to create job opportunities and provide avenues for young talent to flourish. “We’re working tirelessly to channel the youth’s boundless energy into positive outcomes. Our government has laid out a comprehensive blueprint to ensure every young person in Punjab has the resources and encouragement needed to succeed.”

The Chief Minister ended with an impassioned plea to the youth: to rise as leaders, contribute to Punjab’s socio-economic growth, and take pride in their roots while aiming for the stars. “Punjab’s future,” Mann said, “rests on the shoulders of today’s youth, who carry within them the potential to make our state a frontrunner across the globe.”
