Procession taken out on Balmiki Jayanti from Red Fort to Panchkuian Road

A procession on the occasion of Balmiki Jayanti was taken out on Thursday from Red Fort to Panchkuian Road and leaders cutting across party lines paid floral tributes.  The procession was organized under the aegis of Valmiki Chaudhary Sarpanch Committee and Valmiki Pragat Divas Janam Utsav Committee.

Jagad Guru Shankaracharya Ji,Valmiki Temple, Panchkuiyan Road, paid floral tribute to the feet of Maharshi and extended his best wishes to the society. The procession was organized under the supervision of patron of the procession former MLA Jai Kishan.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and state Congress President  Devendra Yadav besides Haroon Yusuf paid floral tributes.

Delhi leaders Praveen Khandelwal, Jai Prakash Agarwal,  Sanjeev Sharma of Vishva Hindu Parishad, dozens of Congress and BJP leaders were present.

The procession with tableaux based on the life of Maharshi Valmiki started from Red Fort and passed through various routes and ended at the historic Valmiki Temple, Panchkuiya Road. In his speech, Jai Kishan said Maharshi Valmiki is the idol of all of us. And by composing a book like Ramayana, he has given us the message of victory of good over evil.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday participated in Valmiki Jayanti celebrations at various locations across Delhi and emphasised his government's efforts to uplift the Valmiki community. Addressing a gathering in the Shobha Yatra organised at the Red Fort, Kejriwal claimed that the AAP government has taken many decisions in the interest of the Valmiki community ever since it was formed.
