Prepare farmers for alternative agriculture, CM asks officials

Saturday, 20 July 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

All the development schemes of the state government should be visible on the ground. Ensure that these schemes reach every house at all costs. Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave these instructions to the officials during a review meeting held in Madhuban regarding various schemes running in Giridih district. He told the officials to listen to the problems of the people with full sensitivity and find solutions. It is your responsibility to effectively implement the policies and schemes of the government in the district so that even the last person in the society can get its benefits. There should not be any kind of negligence and carelessness in this.

The CM took information from the officials about the monsoon rains and the status of paddy plantation in the district. During this, he also became aware of the reality of distribution of seeds and fertilizers among the farmers. He told the officials that if paddy sowing is affected due to less rain, then be fully prepared to prepare the farmers for alternative agriculture. All steps should be taken to provide relief to the farmers. He said that to ensure that the farmers get the benefit of KCC. The CM also inquired about the Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme in the meeting.

Soren said that concrete steps should be taken towards creating maximum man days in various schemes running under MGNREGA. So that labourers can get employment in their village and they do not migrate. He said that it should be ensured that the wages of MGNREGA workers are paid on time.

The CM said that a large number of rural youth from Giridih district migrate to big cities and other states for employment. This is quite worrying. Our government has started many schemes to provide employment to the youth. Connect the youth with these schemes, so that they can get employment in their home-village. He also said that a complete database of those who migrate should also be kept, so that in adverse circumstances, he or his family can be provided proper relief by the government.

He said that by connecting as many farmers as possible with Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, motivates them to plant fruit trees. This is a very ambitious scheme of the state government, which aims to increase the income of farmers. In this meeting, he also took information about the plantation campaign. Forest department officials said that the target is to plant 8 lakh saplings in the entire district this monsoon. So far more than 2 lakh 10 thousand saplings have been planted.

The CM instructed the concerned officials to improve all other systems including electricity and water in the district. He clearly said that people should get basic facilities in a better form. Ensure uninterrupted power supply in the district. The work of water supply schemes should be completed as soon as possible so that people get pure drinking water. Also took information about the construction of a corridor for safe movement of elephants.

Rajya Sabha MP Sarfaraz Ahmed, MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto, MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu, MLA Kalpana Soren, District 20-Point Vice President Sanjay Singh, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of the district and other officers were present in this meeting.
