For Kolar Six Lane Project, houses and shops were demolished near the Chuna Bhatti intersection, front portion of 4 houses and two shops coming under the intersection was demolished on Thursday.

Municipal Corporation and PWD took this action in the presence of SDM and police. The pillar of a three-storey building was also demolished. However, residents and shopkeepers kept pleading not to take action, but the responsible people did not listen to them.

Chunabhatti intersection is being built under the Kolar six lane Project. Apart from the six lane main road, left turns are being made in the double lane at this 200 feet wide intersection. In such a situation, Kolar Road will become 10 lanes instead of six on both sides of the intersection. Clear left turns will be given all around by making an island at the intersection. Some houses and shops were coming in the turn towards Kaliyasot. Due to this, action was started from Thursday, 4 houses were demolished towards Kaliyasot. These were built on government land.

Families also protested against the demolition of the houses. One of the residents, Aarti , said the family has been living here for 50-60 years. Now the house has been demolished. Due to this we have become homeless. Living space has been provided on the hill, but there is no facility there. The government should compensate us.

PWD SDO Deepak Bhandari said, the left turn has to be cleared. Therefore, the encroachment on government land was demolished. Part of two shops were also coming in the way. Action was taken to demolish this too. The shed of the temple has also been removed at the intersection. One of the three lanes on one side has not been built. After the road is cleared, this lane will also be built.

There is a three-storey Dada Ji Avenue at Ram Mandir intersection in Chunabhatti area. One of its pillars was coming in the grip of the drain. Therefore, the team of the building permission branch of the Municipal Corporation reached the spot and started taking action. However, shopkeepers and residents opposed it. They said that despite there being space for the drain, the corporation is taking action to break the pillar. For this, they also contacted public representatives and officers, but the action did not stop. After this, one pillar was broken.
