Three days after the body of a 30-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds was found in the Kalindi Kunj area of southeast Delhi, police have apprehended her supposed lover in connection with the case.
According to the police on Wednesday, the accused, Toffique, alias Sonu, was out on bail in murder and attempt to murder cases. He was arrested from Haryana's Mewat area. DCP Southeast Delhi Ravi Kumar Singh said, “A PCR call was received at Kalindi Kunj police station on Sunday regarding stabbing by Toffique. The police team reached the spot in Khadda Colony and met a girl who informed that her mother was killed by him. Accused had mercilessly stabbed the deceased and cut her throat.”
During investigation, it was revealed that Toffique was known to the deceased and her husband Rashid. “He had an extramarital affair with the deceased and killed the husband of the deceased in the year 2019. While on bail, he also attempted to kill Guljar, a neighbor of the deceased and again went to jail,” Singh stated.
The accused revealed to the police that he had an extra-marital affair with the victim and wanted to live with her family at her residence. "On October 12, at around 9 pm, Toffique sneaked into the house of the woman and stayed on the first floor overnight. The next morning, when the woman went to meet him, they got into a verbal spat and he attacked her. He slit her throat and stabbed all over her body,” he said.
