Police have arrested mastermind of the robbery of gold and silver jewellery and cash from a jewellery shop from Awadhpuri who was found to be Agniveer trainee personnel, he committed the robbery along with his brother-in-law.
After paying off his brother-in-law's debt with the stolen jewellery and money, the plan was to enjoy the remaining money. Jewellery and cash were looted, the accused escaped with a total of Rs 50 lakh of valuables.
The police arrested 7 accused including the Agniveer trainee, his brother-in-law and sister on Sunday. The accused is posted in Fatehgarh, Pathankot. He had come to Bhopal to his sister's house on leave.
The incident took place at 10 pm on Tuesday night in Bagh Sevania. Two miscreants wearing helmets threatened the shopkeeper by showing him a gun. They fled with silver rakhis, jewellery and cash. The miscreants stayed in the shop for 7 minutes. The police have seized the pistol used in the incident.
According to Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra, '9 teams were investigating. Footage of more than 400 cameras installed in the 20 km route around the crime scene was scanned. Based on these footage, the accused could be identified. Their and their family's mobile phones were put on surveillance. Based on technical investigation, the police have arrested the two main accused of robbery, brother-in-law Akash Rai (24) and his brother-in-law, Agniveer trainee personnel Mohit Singh Baghel (19).'
Mohit had hatched the robbery plan. He had come to his sister's house to celebrate holidays. The sister and brother-in-law live just 400 meters away from the place where the robbery took place. Mohit used to do a recce of the shop while walking at night. He had guessed that the shop owner remained alone after 8.30 pm. Taking advantage of this, he committed the robbery. Both of them have no previous record. Akash has studied up to B.Com second year and Mohit has studied up to B.A second year.
The third accused in the case is Vikas Rai, who is the brother of the main accused Akash is from Satlapur (Raisen).
