PM’s visit ensured JMM candidate’s victory in Jamshedpur: JMM

Tuesday, 21 May 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on Monday, took a dig at (PM) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poll campaign meeting and said he ensured JMM Candidate’s victory.

JMM's Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya addressed a press meet in Jamshedpur and took a dig at industrial policy, labor law and BJP's claims of victory in the Lok Sabha elections. He alleged that the NDA government at the Center has taken over the workers by weakening the labor laws. “The right to strike has been taken away. PM Modi had mentioned the Gua firing in Ghatshila. In response, Supriyo Bhattacharya slammed BJP and reminded them of Bakoria firing. He said that after the elections, BJP will blame the Prime Minister for the defeat,” he added.

Voting for Jamshedpur parliamentary seat in Jharkhand will be held on May 25. Sameer Mohanty of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is the candidate from India Block.

Bhattacharya said that for the last many days I have been talking about the problems of the tribals and indigenous people living in and around the copper mines. “The BJP Government at the Center weakened 44 such labor laws due to which workers got constitutional protection. The biggest weapon in labor laws was strike. The tradition was that workers used to submit memorandum to the management through their union according to their problems, demands and needs. The management used to call the workers' delegation for talks. If the issues were resolved then it would be fine, in fact, the union used to give one month's notice to the management before going on strike, but the government weakened it. Now 6 months advance notice will have to be given. Supriyo Bhattacharya said that it is the same thing that I am hungry today and I should wait for 6 months,” he added.

The General Secretary said that a person can survive for a month without food, but after 6 months there will be no man left, so what about hunger. He said that lakhs of Tata workers in Jamshedpur have suffered losses due to this. “PM Modi mentioned the Gua firing in Ghatshila. While mentioning Gua, the Prime Minister probably forgot the Tapkara and Bakoria firing incidents that took place during the tenure of Babulal Marandi and Raghuvar Das. In the Bakoria firing incident, the police did not even spare the children. Why doesn't the Prime Minister mention this?,” he added.

Bhattacharya said that BJP deliberately sent the Prime Minister to Ghatshila so that the victory of Sameer Mohanty in Jamshedpur could be ensured. “Local BJP leaders have learned cunning. If you get defeated then you will say that I never went to Jamshedpur. I was called for the street meeting. Tomorrow in our rally in Jamshedpur, Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, Kalpana Murmu Soren, Chief Minister Champai Soren and Ajay Kumar and other leaders from India Block will be present. A pandal three times bigger than the PM's pandal is being built in Ghatshila. The pandal will be completely full,” he added.
