The Voice of Environment (VoE), a scientific and environmental research organization, in collaboration with the Satyam Shivam Trust, organized a significant plantation and cleanliness drive at the Birla Temple in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The event was held under this year’s theme of "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience," emphasizing the restoration of healthy land, prevention of desert development, and effective management of water shortages.
The Birla Temple was selected for its historical and cultural significance, aiming to impart a powerful message on environmental sustainability and nation-building. The initiative aligns with the ongoing mission of Hariyali by the State Government to promote a green and food-secure state. The VoE team planted various fruit-bearing saplings, including Neem, Guava, Mango, Pipal, and Ashok, contributing to environmental sustainability and enhancing local biodiversity.
The event marked the beginning of the Jharkhand chapter of VoE, supporting the broader mission of Clean Green India and a self-sustaining nation. The significance of planting fruit-bearing trees was underscored, highlighting their role in providing fresh fruits, preventing soil erosion, reducing the risk of landslides and flooding, and improving air quality. These trees contribute to a healthy ecosystem and help mitigate the greenhouse effect, thereby slowing global warming.
Dr. Priyanka Jha, Coordinator of the VoE Jharkhand Chapter, led the drive, supported by the Birla Temple Management Authority, which appreciated the initiative. The local MLA, . Saryu Roy, attended the event and delivered an inspiring speech, motivating the participants. The drive was further led by Kanchan Singh Manju Singh, alongside other dedicated volunteer members.
