Wednesday, 27 November 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Governor Mangubhai Patel, marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, has urged the people of the state to reaffirm their commitment to uphold constitutional values in all their actions with sincerity on Constitution Day. He urged citizens to resolve to actively contribute to enhancing public awareness of the rights granted by the Constitution and the responsibilities assigned to them through their actions and behaviour.

The Governor Patel was addressing the politicians, officials and citizens at Hans Dhwani Auditorium, Ravindra Bhawan as the chief guest of the mass recitation programme of the Preamble of the Constitution organised by the state government. Patel had the Preamble of the Constitution read out by the attendees of the programme. On this occasion, the documentary Glory of Constitution produced by the Government of India and the short film prepared by the Parliamentary Affairs Department of the state were screened.

Patel said that the Constitution is an inspirational living document for us Indians and a modern scripture of independent India, which guides all of us. The Constitution has been adopted by every citizen of the country, so the real guardians of the Constitution are we, the people of India. He said that the Constitution is not the guardian of one person, but of all. Therefore, the responsibility of its protection and promotion also lies with all of us. While on one hand the Constitution empowers the citizens, on the other hand, the citizens also support and protect the Constitution through their conduct and behaviour. Therefore, it is important that every citizen of the country understands the objectives and importance of the Constitution with dedication and shows his respect for the Constitution by proper compliance. It is necessary for every section, every community and every citizen of the country to stay alert and active for the compliance of their rights and duties.

Patel said that the day of completion of 75 years of the Constitution is an occasion and celebration of pride and understanding of universal values ??for all of us Indians. This important event is being celebrated as "Our Constitution - Our Self-Respect" campaign. It is important that the future generation should be made aware of the long struggle and sacrifice made by the constitution makers for building an independent, democratic and self-reliant nation. Constitution Day should not be celebrated only as a celebration of governance and political parties, but as a celebration of gratitude towards the contribution of the nation makers. It is the responsibility of all of us to contribute our best in building a strong and inclusive society without discriminating on the basis of caste, religion, gender, language etc. as per the Constitution.

On the auspicious occasion of Constitution Day, Patel remembered the architect of the Indian Constitution, Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and all the great personalities of the Constituent Assembly. Paying tribute to them, he said that their amazing vision and efforts have given us a Constitution that provides equality, freedom and justice to all citizens.
