In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, authorities have intensified vehicle checks at inter-state and inter-district check posts to ensure a free, fair, and fear-free election process. Over the past two days, a total of Rs. 7.28 lakh has been seized during these checks, with Rs. 1.1 lakh released after proper verification by the magistrate.
On October 16, Rs. 1,42,600 was seized from a vehicle in Potka. The following day, October 17, vehicle checks at the Kesharpur picket near Galudih police station in Ghatshila block resulted in the seizure of Rs. 2,39,600 from a pick-up vehicle, and an additional Rs. 2,36,500 from another pick-up vehicle, totaling Rs. 4,76,100. Rs. 1,10,000 was also recovered from another vehicle and later released after verification. District Election Officer Ananya Mittal has directed authorities to thoroughly inspect all vehicles, including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, cargo trucks, and VIP vehicles, to prevent illegal transportation of cash, liquor, drugs, or any gift items that could influence the election process.
