To familiarize officers with the intricacies of three new criminal laws, which are set to be implemented nationwide from July 1, the Haryana Government on Thursday organised a one -day online training programme for IAS and HCS officers on these laws. The training was conducted by the Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Gurugram.

Addressing the inaugural session through video conferencing, Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad said that Haryana will continue this process of training even after the implementation of these Laws on July 1. The Government also plans to set up a helpline at State Headquarter to provide clarification and address the doubts on these laws.

Prasad directed HIPA to conduct training sessions for officers at the divisional headquarter level. Besides, similar programs should also be organized for officers of Police and Prosecution Departments at HIPA Gurugram and Panchkula. He noted significant changes in the new Criminal Laws regarding forms, substance, processes, and technology, stressing the availability of technical support pillars for their effective implementation.

He emphasized the pivotal role of civil officers in ensuring the effective implementation of the new laws. Highlighting the critical importance of a robust criminal justice system for any nation's economy, he underscored that no economy can thrive without it.

Prasad said that Haryana is fully prepared to roll out these laws from July 1, with extensive training provided to the Judiciary, Police, and Prosecution over several months. He said all jails within the state possess appropriate and adequate technical infrastructure, with around 300 desktops readily available. Recognizing the importance of virtual Court proceedings, the Department has already installed 149 video conferencing systems across jails and Court complexes and will be procuring 178 more. The efforts have been made to cover all sections of the society in order to sensitize key stakeholders, he added.
