Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday arrested five persons from Maharashtra and brought them here for operating an online betting racket.
The five are Atul Bhagwan, Vikrant Rangare, Anshul Reddy, Devendra Kumar alias Tinku and Kushal Thakur, Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Urban) Lakhan Patle said.
The first hailed from Maharashtra and the others were residents of Bhilai city in Chhattisgarh.
They were nabbed from a flat on the outskirts of Pune.
After arrest, they confessed to fraudulently borrowing bank accounts from their acquaintances and other people for using them in the betting racket.
The police seized 56 ATM cards, 47 mobile phones, 35 bank cheque books, 20 bank passbooks, 7 online betting kits, 6 laptops, a tablet computer (tablet) and betting transactions records worth crores of rupees from them.
