Expressing displeasure over official negligence at the Adampur plantation site, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, on Thursday, placed an employee under suspension for dereliction of duties.
Commissioner Harendra Narayan made a surprise visit to the plantation site at Adampur. The civic body chief instructed officials to deploy additional staff to curtail the rampant growth of grass and weeds at the plantation site within a week.
Narayan took action against the negligent officer in charge of the site. The in-charge garden supervisor (whose original position is that of a gardener and watchman), Bhagchand Jigne, was immediately suspended for failing to maintain the plantation site properly.
The Commissioner also directed that a fine be imposed on the agency responsible for the maintenance of the facility.
The inspection was attended by various officials, including Udit Garg, Chief Engineer, and RK Trivedi, Executive Engineer of the Swachh Bharat Mission, along with representatives of the institutions involved in the project.
Narayan instructed the Assistant Garden Commissioner to personally oversee the clearing of the area within the deadline.The Commissioner also inspected the neighbouring landfill of the BMC and instructed officials to deploy additional trommel machines to rid the site of accumulated waste.He issued directives for the commissioning of at least one unit of the NTPC charcoal plant by 31st January next year.
He also underlined the need to expedite work on the Bio-CNG plant at the waste disposal site.Narayan also reviewed the slaughterhouse and the plastic plant during the inspection.With the quarterly sanitation audit looming, the Municipal Commissioner has been conducting inspections at municipal sites and facilities, repeatedly urging officials to enhance services to meet the standards set by Swachh Survekshan 2024.
