In collaboration with United Malyali Association and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, the ritual activities of Onam festival will be performed at the coastal village exhibition of the museum.
Onam is the most popular festival of Kerala which marks the homecoming of the great King Mahabali. According to a common belief, the king goes from his kingdom to the earth and blesses his people. This program will be organized on 08/09/2024 from 03 PM. On this occasion, ritualistic worship will be done in Sarpa Kavu. The rituals performed here are of different types depending on the particular community and the patron deity of Kavu.
On this occasion, Director Prof. Amitabh Pandey said that manav sangrahalaya is a community museum and community participation is essential in all the programs held here. Onam festival is being celebrated with the participation of the Malayalam community residing in Bhopal.
