Need for harmony in environment and economic development

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla has said that along with accelerating the pace of development, harmony with the environment is very important.

It is the responsibility of the present generation to ensure that the coming generation gets various natural resources like water, air, soil etc in good condition. Working continuously towards environmental conservation along with development is important and essential in the era of climate change problem.

He said that the government is continuously working in this direction. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla released the book "Birds of Bhopal" based on authentic information of various species of birds found in Bhopal by The Nature Volunteer organization at Hotel Jahanuma Palace Bhopal.

It is noteworthy that this book is dedicated to late PM Lad, a retired officer of the Indian Forest Service. Late Lad has done remarkable work in the field of bird conservation. Deputy Chief Minister Shukla presented a copy of the book to late Lad's wife Kamla Lad.

In the book, 312 species of birds have been documented, including local birds and migratory birds found in Bhopal. Environmental protectors work as a guide on the path of developmentThe Deputy Chief Minister said that if natural resources are damaged due to avoidable reasons for development works or for infrastructure development, then the government has made provisions to compensate for it.

The government is sensitive in this direction. The Deputy Chief Minister praised all such nature volunteers and institutions including TNV who are working in the direction of environmental protection and said that environmental protectors work as a guide like a shield on the path of development.

Participation of every citizen is necessary for environmental protection. Continuous efforts are important for public awareness. Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silavat, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Ashok Barnwal, Principal Secretary Tourism Shivshekhar Shukla, Forest Force Chief Shri Aseem Srivastava, Padma awardee and President of TNV Bhalu Mondhe and senior journalist and Vice President of TNV Abhilash Khandekar along with TNV officials, intellectuals and volunteers working in the direction of environmental protection were present.

Bhopal has the potential for “International Birds Festival”Tourism Principal Secretary Shukla underlined the potential and possibilities of organizing national and international level bird festivals in Bhopal and called upon voluntary organizations to make efforts to create public awareness in this direction. Forest Force Chief Srivastava said that books on wildlife and biodiversity prepared by experts provide authentic information, which is extremely useful in the efforts being made towards environmental conservation.

Senior journalist and TNV Vice President Abhilash Khandekar mentioned the ornithologists and efforts that contributed to the creation of the book "Birds of Bhopal". He mentioned various topics of cooperation from the government towards environmental conservation.
