MTMC hosts Oncology Colloquium and Alumni Reunion

Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and an Institute of Eminence, recently organized a Colloquium on Oncology and MAHE Alumni Meet, which received resounding success and appreciation from participants.
 
The "Colloquium on Oncology," was chaired by Dr. G Pradeep Kumar, Dean of MTMC. The academic session featured an esteemed panel of Manipal Alumni, including renowned professionals such as Dr. Sandeep Ganguly from Apollo Hospitals, Kolkata, Dr. Satish Sharma from HCG Cancer Hospital, Ranchi, Dr. Sneha Jha from Paras HMRI Hospital, Patna, Dr. Namrata Agarwal Mahensaria from Rinchi Trust Hospital, Ranchi, Dr. Bijan Saha from Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur, along with Dr. Hiralal Murmu and Dr. Debarshi Saha from MTMC. Guest speakers included Dr. Unnikrishnan B from KMC Mangalore, Dr. Anand Venugopal, COO of Manipal teaching hospitals, and Dr. Saraswathy Sreeram from KMC Mangalore.
 
The event attracted approximately 220 students, who actively participated in an interactive lecture on the present and future of oncology, followed by a multispecialty panel discussion focusing on breast cancer. The success of the academic program was evident, with attendees inspired to contribute further to the education of medical students in the field of oncology and to aid cancer patients.
 
Encouraged by the positive outcome, MTMC Alumni Cell has decided to host similar academic talks involving Manipal Alumni regularly, aiming to benefit both students and patients.
 
In the evening, the Office of Alumni Relations organized the Manipal Alumni Meet - 2024. Dr. Anjaneyulu Konuri, Dr. Anshuman Pattnaik, Dr. Satish Sharma, and Dr. Chinmaya Dash spearheaded the organizing team for the event. The campus was adorned with vibrant lights to welcome Manipal Alumni from various regions, including Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar.
 
Approximately 50 alumni, now established professionals in their respective fields, gathered to reminisce about their impactful education and experiences at Manipal. Dr. Unnikrishnan B eloquently highlighted the reciprocal relationship between alma mater and alumni, while Dr. G Pradeep Kumar shared amusing anecdotes, leaving the audience in laughter.
 
MTMC students added to the festivities with a fusion dance performance, and the college band enthralled the audience with popular songs, paying tribute to their Manipal seniors. The evening concluded with a delightful dinner for all attendees, leaving behind smiles and a sense of camaraderie, symbolizing the resounding success of the event.
