n The Aam Aadmi Party's candidates for the January 19 Rajya Sabha elections former Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal, ND Gupta and jailed AAP leader Sanjay Singh filed their nominations at the Delhi transport commissioner's office in Civil Lines on Monday.
The six-year term of Sanjay Singh, Sushil Kumar Gupta and N D Gupta ends on January 27. Maliwal's name has been nominated by the party to replace Sushil Gupta. AAP has renominated ND Gupta and jailed party leader Sanjay Singh for their second terms. Meanwhile, AAP MP Sanjay Singh was brought to Civil Lines in a police van to file his nomination for Rajya Sabha. Sanjay Singh's wife and father was also present during his nomination.
Sanjay Singh's father Dinesh Singh, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the AAP and its workers during his son's arrest.
"The party and its workers had trust in him, and they are more upset than his own family on his arrest that Sanjay Singh was punished for speaking the truth...I want to thank the party on behalf of other party workers and my family...The party has taken the right decision by not getting stuck in tyrant politics" Dinesh Singh said.
