Thursday, 29 August 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Madhya Pradesh ranks first in atrocities against women. Every day 17 incidents of rape are reported here. In such a situation, there is a need to strictly implement the law made for women. There should be fear in the criminals but this does not happen. The victim has to wander for lodging complaints, Woman Congress State President Vibha Patel said at the  second phase of Congress' Nari Nyay Andolan which started from Bhopal on Wednesday.

Women Congress members staged a sit-in protest at Bhopal's Roshanpura trisection.

Patel said there are many issues like economic, social and sexual harassment, women reservation, caste census, unbridled inflation, a messed up health system. We also want that the names that were removed from the list of Laadli Behans should be added back.

PCC chief Jeetu Patwari, former minister PC Sharma and Women Congress state president Vibha Patel participated in it. From here the workers left for the Raj Bhavan, but the police stopped them beforehand. On this, the women leaders started raising slogans.

During the protest, Vibha Patel felt dizzy due to the heat. She sat down and other party workers held her which saved her.

After staging a sit-in protest at Roshanpura crossing, the women's Congress members left for the CM House.

Former minister PC Sharma said women should get 33 percent reservation in the assembly. If they can run the house, they can also run the state and the country.

Former minister Sajjan Singh Verma said that we have to fight for justice. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had talked about giving 33% reservation to women. Now women want 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha. He said that if any woman needs justice the most in the country today, it is Jasodaben.

During the protest, women were holding placards with slogans written on them in their hands. The first phase of the movement started from July 29.

On the lines of the August Kranti movement run during independence, the Congress is continuously agitating and demonstrating in the month of August. Under this, the first phase of Nari Nyay Andolan was started from Jantar Mantar, Delhi on  July 29, 2024.
