The Special Police Establishment of Lokayukta has arrested a BDA clerk red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 3.35 lakh for the renewal of the lease of the house. The accused was caught red handed while accepting the bribe as the first installment. A case has been registered against him under the Corruption Act.
According to the information, the complainant is a resident of Piplani. He had complained about BDA's Assistant Grade 1 clerk demanding bribes in the office of SP Lokayukta Manu Vyas.
Acting on this complaint, the team led by Inspector Neelam Patwa on Friday caught BDA's corrupt clerk Tarachand Das (58) Assistant Grade 1 red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the applicant. Tarachand lives in house number 10 in Panchsheel Nagar, Bhopal.
The applicant farmer was getting tired of visiting Babu Tarachand Das for the last 6 months for the renewal of his house lease. The accused was not ready to do the work without taking a bribe. Fed up with this, the applicant farmer came to Lokayukta and complained to the Superintendent of Police.
