LG directs officials to ensure transparency in execution of projects

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday issued strict instructions to officials to ensure transparency in the execution of the project by putting a display board that mentions important information including name of the funding agency, executing agency, cost of the project among others.

Saxena reviewed the status and progress of projects under the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) “Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan” on Thursday, issued strict instructions for ensuring transparency in the execution of the projects.

The LG directed that every project should have a display board wherein name of the funding agency, name of the executing agency, name of the contractor and his phone number, cost of the project, tendered amount, timeline of the project including date of starting and completion and name and number of the District Magistrate for redressal of any of residents’ grievances will be mentioned.

Further, he directed that on a portal meant for monitoring the projects under the “Delhi Gramoday Abhiyan”, in addition to the information points, the ‘before and after’ pictures of the location and project being undertaken will also be uploaded along with dates. 

“The portal will also have the tender document of the L-1 bidder and the work order issued to it.  This information will be available for viewing by all,” he said.

The project is being implemented at a cost of more than 960 crore rupees, across the villages of Delhi, for improvements and augmentation of civic infrastructure in the villages.  “Various projects that are being implemented include construction of roads, building of boundary walls, plantation of trees along roads and boundaries, drainage,parks, chaupals, community centres, and cremation grounds, etc,” a statement by LG office stated.

These projects are being undertaken in consultation with the residents of the villages as per their requirements, it read. Projects worth 503 crore are already under implementation and the District Magistrates have been entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring them.
