Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved the appointment of 232 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs) across various hospitals of the city government as per their vacancy positions.
According to a Raj Niwas official on Sunday, these doctors, appointed as Group 'A' officers through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), as a result of concerted exercises to fill vacant positions, following Saxena’s directions after taking over.
“Appointed as Group ‘A’ officers, their postings have been done through the National Capital Services Selection Authority (NCSSA) and they will be placed at various hospitals including Lok Nayak, Raja Harish Chandra, Lal Bahadur Shashtri, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospitals as well as in offices of the Chief District Medical Officers,” he added.
"It is expected that these appointments will bring relief to the situation caused by inordinate delays over the past many years in the appointment of permanent doctors, with the AAP government focusing on appointments on a contractual basis in an ad-hoc manner," the statement said.
Recently, Saxena distributed appointment letters to 702 newly appointed government employees in various Delhi Government Departments and civic bodies at an event organized at Vigyan Bhawan.
According to officials, these appointments have been made in Delhi Government departments like Education, Health, Training & Technical Education, Delhi Transport Corporation and Delhi Fire Services.
