Kalpana asks party workers to remain vigilant on strong room

Monday, 03 June 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

JMM leader and former chief minister Hemant Soren wife Kalpana Soren has asked his party workers, candidates and office-bearers to remain “vigilant” against the “lies” of the BJP and “its exit polls.”

She went on to caution the party workers to not believe any such claim and alleged that the BJP can “rig the counting.” “In such a situation, the question will arise in your mind that what will the BJP get by lying for two-three days when the INDIA alliance government is going to be formed. In answer to this, let me tell you that by spreading such lies, the BJP people want to demoralise all of you, so that your enthusiasm is reduced and you people do not remain alert and active on the day of counting,” he said.

Kalpana Soren, star campaigner of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, has called upon party workers to keep a close watch on the strong room till the counting of votes is over. Kalpana Soren participated in the INDIA meeting held in New Delhi on Saturday along with Chief Minister Champai Soren.

She said that the last phase of the grand festival of elections in the country has been completed. Everyone played an important role in this great battle of elections. We also lost some polling personnel in the scorching heat. May God give peace to everyone's soul and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this hour of grief.

Kalpana said that after the election campaign, she met Hemant Soren in jail. He is very sad about not being able to participate in this great festival of democracy, but he is also excited about the hard work and efforts of everyone. Jharkhand has fought their struggle and their fight against injustice in this election.

She also said that the last phase of the election has ended on Saturday. Counting of votes is on June 4 and with the strength of INDIA, the country will move towards a new inclusive path on June 4. The process till the counting of votes is over will be very important. We have to keep a strict guard on the strong room. On the day of counting, the entire process has to be completed with concentration while being very alert, active and vigilant.

The JMM leader direction to party workers to remain vigilant comes after most of the e on Saturday evening predicted a sweeping victory for the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the general election, surpassing its numbers in 2019. Some exit polls said the NDA was likely to touch the 400 figure, one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's key campaign aims. Almost all exit polls predicted major gains for the BJP in the south as well as West Bengal and Odisha.

Meanwhile, INDIA bloc parties will win at the very least 295 seats Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said at the end of a meeting of 13 Opposition parties at his residence in Delhi, offering a counter to the exit polls figures. He also implored all polling agents of the Opposition parties to remain vigilant on the counting day of June 4 asking them not to leave the counting halls till the last vote is counted.

The figure of 295 was arrived on the basis of a state-wise assessment taking inputs from all the leaders present at the meeting. The INDIA bloc has also sought an appointment with the Election Commission to raise issues about the counting exercise. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is to surrender and return to jail on Sunday at the end of his bail term, is likely to accompany the delegation.
