Babulal Hembrom, a cadet of the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society(JSSPS) will represent India in the upcoming Youth World Weightlifting Championship (22-26 May ,2024) to be held at Peru, South America,  JSSPS is a joint venture between Central Coalfields Limited and Jharkhand Government for promoting sports talents in the state by setting up Sports Academy.

Babulal will represent India in the international event under 49  Kg category of under 17 Age category.  

Earlier Babulal Hembron has performed outstanding at various national-level championships in his age category. In the National Youth / Junior / Senior Weightlifting Competition, which was organized in Itanagar (28 December 23 to 08 January 2024), Babulal not only won the Gold medal by lifting a total weight of 193 kg in the 49 kg weight category of U - 17 age group but also created a new national record by breaking the old national record of 190 kg.

JSSPS is a unique CSR initiative of Central Coalfields Ltd which administers and operates the Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon. In this connection, an MoU was signed between CCL and State Govt of Jharkhand in September 2015 to establish a Sports Academy, one of its kind in the country.

In the Sports Academy, 338 cadets are undergoing training under 11 sports disciplines like weightlifting, cycling, boxing etc.

JSSPS and CCL family congratulated Babulal for his splendid performance and best wishes for the upcoming international event to be held in South America.
