In a significant political development, Samir Mohanty , a prominent leader of JMM and Baharagora MLA, officially entered the fray for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat as the India Alliance candidate. Mohanty lodged his nomination on Friday at the District Commissioner's (DC) office amidst a notable presence of key political figures.

Accompanied by the presence of Chief Minister Champai Soren and JMM MLA cum District President Ramdas Hansda, Mohanty  formalized his candidacy, marking the commencement of a rigorous electoral campaign.

The nomination ceremony witnessed a fervent display of support from JMM workers who assembled outside the DC office in a spirited procession. However, despite their enthusiastic presence, access to the nomination venue was restricted, and they were halted outside.

Undeterred by the logistical constraints, Samir Mohanty  utilized the occasion to demonstrate his political prowess, aiming to underscore his popularity and support base among the masses. With the backing of influential party members and a formidable show of solidarity from party workers, Mohanty  embarked on his electoral journey with optimism and determination.

In the 2019 polls, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto had defeated JMM’s Champai Soren by 3,02,090 (the highest margin of victory in the history of Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency).
