Jharkhand has got the first place in the 'Social Media Performance Index' released by the Election Commission of India on Thursday evening. Jharkhand has been on the first position in the list of top 10 states across the country on the basis of activeness towards running voter awareness campaigns on various social media platforms.

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that in the current environment, social media is a strong and effective medium for running awareness campaigns on any social issues like voter awareness. This time social media was used positively in this direction in Jharkhand. Not only were many social media campaigns run from the headquarters level, but some district election officers of the state also ran many hashtag campaigns at their level. In which there was immense participation of common people. Many hashtag campaigns were also trending across the country. He said that in future also the same positive role will be expected from the common citizens.

Sanjay Kumar, Social Media Nodal Officer of the Chief Electoral Officer's Office, said that the performance index prepared every month by the Election Commission for ranking the social media activity of the CEO offices of all the states of the country is based on 14 different parameters. These parameters mainly include the total monthly reach of the social media platform, proportional increase in the number of subscribers, number of innovative campaigns, number of posts in regional languages, use of content suitable for the disabled, coordination with local icons and social media influencers, live dialogue etc.

It was said that the said ranking of Jharkhand was for the various positive efforts made on social media in the month of April, in which Rajasthan has also got the first place jointly with Jharkhand, while Karnataka has got the second and Uttarakhand has got the third place.
