Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed an enthusiastic crowd at an election rally in Potka, East Singhbhum, on Saturday, rallying voters to support BJP candidate Meera Munda. Shah’s message was clear: a BJP-led government in Jharkhand would prioritize the removal of infiltrators from the state, which he accused the Hemant Soren government of harboring to secure votes.
Shah launched a direct attack on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led administration, alleging that Chief Minister Hemant Soren has turned Jharkhand into a "hub of infiltrators" for political gain. "The people of Jharkhand will teach them a lesson in this election," Shah declared. He assured the crowd that, if elected, the BJP would immediately act to address this pressing issue.
Addressing nepotism concerns, Shah accused the ruling coalition of favoring family interests over the welfare of the state. He remarked, “The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress, and RJD are only focused on developing their own families. Such a government cannot be expected to bring genuine development to Jharkhand.” This sentiment was echoed by supporters at the rally who expressed frustration with the state’s slow progress under the current administration.
Shah also tackled the issue of corruption, calling the Soren government “neck-deep in corruption” and blaming it for stalling Jharkhand’s growth. Shah highlighted how rampant corruption has deprived citizens of essential services and economic opportunities, pledging that a BJP government would restore transparency and accountability.
In a bid to resonate with local sentiments, Shah also assured the gathering that his government would ensure the return of every penny lost in the Sahara financial scandal. Further, he emphasized BJP’s commitment to Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, promising to add local languages, such as Ho, to the official list of state languages and to push for their inclusion in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
The Potka rally infused fresh energy into BJP’s campaign efforts, solidifying the party’s promises of security, transparency, and cultural pride. Before arriving in Potka, Shah conducted a roadshow in Jamshedpur, where hundreds of supporters greeted him, demonstrating strong backing for the BJP.
