Indore’s Vandana Thakur brings laurels

Bringing laurels to the state, Vandana Thakur of Indore has been adjudged the second runner-up at the 15th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2024, currently underway in the Maldives.

Thakur won the bronze medal in the women's bodybuilding in the above 55 kg category. Thakur is the only Indian female bodybuilder to achieve this feat at the prestigious competition.

Thakur’s remarkable achievement is a significant milestone for Indian bodybuilding, especially for women in the sport. Her success not only brings glory to the nation but also serves as a powerful source of inspiration for women striving to break into this male-dominated field.

The prestigious competition, hosted by the Bodybuilding Association of Maldives (BBAM) with support from the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF), saw participation from over 250 top bodybuilders from 46 countries.
