Incessant heavy rains disrupt normal life in the whole State

Spell of heavy rainfall continued across the state, water bodies swell disrupting the normal life, alert of heavy rainfall has been issued by Met in the next two days.

Heavy rains occurred in 20 districts including Bhopal and Indore. Due to heavy rains, the water level in the dams is continuously increasing.

Two sluice gates of the Machagora Dam in Chhindwara were opened, 6 gates of the dam built on the Barna river in Raisen were opened. Its water will reach Sethani Ghat in Narmadapuram by 3 pm on Saturday night. This will increase the water level of Narmada by 3 feet.

On Saturday, heavy rains were witnessed in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Betul, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Satna, Raisen, Shivpuri, Khandwa, Dhar, Tikamgarh, Jabalpur, Sagar, 4 inches of water fell in Narmadapuram, 3.9 inches of rain was recorded in Pachmarhi, 3.4 inches of water fell in Shajapur, 1 inch rainfall was witnessed in Guna, Seoni, Chhindwara, Khargone.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Vidisha, Raisen, Harda, Betul, Jabalpur and Balaghat in the next 24 hours. On Sunday, an alert for heavy rain was issued in 8 districts including Chhindwara.

Senior Meteorologist said, monsoon activities will reduce in the state, but heavy rain will start again from July 28. Heavy rain is expected in the northern part on July 29 and 30.

The wall of a house collapsed due to rain in Sehore. Two women were buried in it. One woman came out by herself. The second woman could be pulled out after 6 hours by removing the debris with a JCB. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Due to heavy rains for the last one week, more water than average fell in the state. So far, the state has received 15.7 inches of rain, which is 1 percent more. The western part- Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior-Chambal division has received 4 percent more water than average, while the eastern part- Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur and Shahdol division has received 1 percent less rain.
