Man sets pregnant wife on fire in Amritsar
Amritsar: A man allegedly tied his 23-year-old pregnant wife to bed and set her on fire in Bulley Nangal village of Baba Bakala area. The police on Sunday said that Sukhdev Singh burned his wife to death on Friday after a fight with her. Sukhdev tied his wife Pinky, who was six months pregnant and was expecting twins, to a bed and set her on fire, they said. By the time police, which was informed by village Sarpanch about the incident, reached the house, the woman had died of burns. Sukhdev, who had fled after the act, has been arrested and booked for murder, the police said, adding that they were married around two and half years ago.
Int’l Workshop on ‘Recent Advances in Agriculture for Self-Reliant India’ at CCSH Agri varsity
Hisar: The fourth international workshop on ‘Recent Advances in Agriculture for Self-Reliant India (RAASI-2024)’ was organized on Sunday at the campus of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar. The workshop was attended by the chief guests Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), New Delhi, chairman Dr Sanjay Kumar as chief patron and University Chancellor Prof BR Kamboj. Dr Sanjay Kumar said that the announcement to make India self-reliant was made in 2020, the main objective of which is to promote and enhance local products and encourage manufacturing in India, including the agricultural sector. Agriculture can play an important role in fulfilling the resolution of 'Make in India' under this mission.
SWACH Accelerator Program for start-ups unveiled
Mohali: Innovation Mission Punjab, IIT Ropar Technology Innovation Foundation AWaDH- Agriculture and Water Development Hub, and India Sanitation Coalition announced the launch of SWACH, an Accelerator Program dedicated to empowering start-up’s in the WASH sector (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). SWACH, which stands for Sanitation and Water Action for Conserving Humanity, is set to create a significant impact in the landscape of the WASH sector by providing tailored support, mentorship, funding, and networking opportunities to innovative entrepreneurs across India.
SAE Dubai signs MoU with SXILL, Chandigarh Design School
Chandigarh: Worldskills Industrial Design Expert Prof Vineet Raj Kapoor, on behalf of Chandigarh Design School, and Indiaskills GDT Jury Expert Neelu Kapoor, on behalf of SXILL, signed an Memorandum of Understanding with SAE Dubai — a reputed University at Dubai — recently at SAE’s Dubai Campus. Under the arrangement, SXILL and Chandigarh Design School shall be delivering classes for students enrolled by SAE, Dubai, in the highly specialized field of design thinking. This would be a great step for India’s design community into international education.
