The BJP has appointed its first-ever ‘WhatsApp Pramukh’ here on Sunday. Ramkumar Chaurasia, an MSc graduate, has been entrusted with the role, of using WhatsApp to connect with the masses and disseminate information about government schemes.
Ramkumar Chourasia, a resident of Bhopal and a private sector employee, has been tasked with using WhatsApp to engage with the public and spread information about the party's policies and initiatives.
In an exclusive conversation with India Today sister site, Aaj Tak, Chourasiya, who holds an MSc degree, shared that he hails from Raisen district of the state but has lived in Bhopal for the past 30 years.
He is associated with booth number 223 of the BJP and expressed that his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi played a pivotal role in his decision to join the party. Chourasia spoke about how PM Modi’s leadership has inspired a sense of national pride amongst the young people of the country and how India is now being recognised globally, which further motivated his decision to become part of the BJP.
Initially, Chourasia started small programs in his locality, but now, with his new responsibility as the first WhatsApp head of the state, his focus will be to use the platform to communicate BJP’s ideology and government schemes to voters in his booth area. His goal is to ensure that every voter in his booth receives information about the party’s policies through WhatsApp.
This move comes as the BJP gears up for organisational elections. Recently, State BJP President VD Sharma took charge as booth head from Ward-80 in Bhopal, marking the launch of the "Booth Organisation Festival."
The party has devised a structure for each of the 65,015 booths in the state, with 12 key officials assigned to each. These positions include the booth president, booth minister, BLA-2 (party workers), WhatsApp head, Mann Ki Baat head, beneficiary head, and panna head.
