Himalayan bulbul sighted in PTR

Tuesday, 25 June 2024 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Himalayan bulbul was sighted in the tiger reserve Palamu.

This bird is rare here in this plateau and its sighting is amazing.

The Himalayan bulbul was sighted in the Bareysanr range of the tiger reserve Palamu by a couple of PTR men, one a former deputy director south Mukesh Kumar and one camera trap expert Manish Bakshi.

The bulbul was captured on camera by one Shera Kumar.

It is said that PTR has 170 plus varieties of birds including more than half a dozen migratory birds nevertheless bird watching is not at all inthing.

Tourists love to speak about python here but not of the parakeet.

Himalayan bulbul is no choice for the bird smugglers. This bird is not domesticated like a parrot.

As this bird is very rare to be seen, there is no record of its hunting like the Bageri bird that comes in winter here from Tibet.

Bageri called lark is a bird much in demand in winter as eating of this bird is seen as a warm provider for the body. Eating lark is considered as body warming food in winter. It is sold at a very costly 30 rupees for a single lark.
